Warm up your bellies this holiday season by adding this simple everyday ingredient into your favorite dairy free hot chocolate to make a healthy, super creamy Chocolate Peppermint Tea Latte.
People have asked me what I’ve been craving the most during my pregnancy and sadly, I wish I could say some outrageously strange combo, but the truth is there hasn’t been anything out of the ordinary. Each trimester has brought it’s own cravings, like fast food during my first trimester; lemon juice in my water (the more, the better) and tossing hot sauce on everything I eat during my second trimester. So now that I am in my last 30 days of my third trimester (I know, THIRTY DAYS!), I’ve been wanting hot chocolate anything and everything and if there is peppermint in it, even better. In fact, my favorite drink to order is a Moroccan Mint Tea Latte at Coffee Bean. The problem is I’ve been more couch-bound these days so figuring out a drink that is comparable to make at home without leaving, makes me one happy pregnant mama. Enter the Chocolate Peppermint Tea Latte.
I like adding an herbal mint tea bag to my hot chocolate to add the perfect peppermint flavor for a healthier drink. I also use unsweetened Silk Almond milk for the exact amount of creaminess. You can add froth on top for a proper latte (and I find Silk Almond milk to froth up real nicely) or you can just throw some of your favorite dairy free whipped cream on top of it instead. They don’t usually put whipped cream on this particular drink but when you make it yourself at home, you kind of have to* And instead of using tons of sugar to sweeten this Chocolate Peppermint Tea Latte, I simply use maple syrup. You can always use granulated sugar instead.
*I think I typically have more whipped cream then latte…

I have to try this! My girls already love mint tea, so mint cocoa will be fabulous! What dairy-free whipped cream do you use? My girls are always begging for the canned kind, but the only kind I’ve found has a milk cross-contamination warning (and my youngest has a dairy allergy).
