This time of year, one cannot help but examine their life and think about all of the things that they are grateful for. For me, I cannot help but think about how much change I have endured this year. Not only does my life look so differently now than it did a year ago but the truth is that I am so grateful for the way everything panned out…
Eight months ago when everything in my life fell apart, I had no clue that I would be sitting here, the happiest I have ever been. It’s not clear in the midst of great pain and change to believe that that time is preparing you for something good. But as I look back now, I am so grateful for each step that played out because each step led me to this couch. And if you could see to whom this couch belongs to, you would know exactly what I mean. (wink wink).
You just never know where life will take you. And when it seems like it has taken your world upside down, I can speak from experience and say, stick with it. You never know what (or who) it will bring to you…

I made this for Thanksgiving and it was awesome! I doubled the recipe, used 2 TBS of sugar and 2 TBS of apple cider (instead of the lemon juice) and chopped the cranberries instead of leaving some whole. I am in love with this relish!
I also made raw chocolate thumbprint cookies with caramel filling, using your date caramel sauce and they came out amazing. I had never thought about making caramel out of dates, but now that I’ve tried I think this has become my go-to caramel sauce.
Thanks for the recipes! π
Uh, you just made my day! I am sooo super happy that these recipes worked out for you and that you love them. HOORAY! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! xo
Ok, am I the only weirdo who’s never thought of a mostly raw cranberry sauce? This looks so much fresher and vibrant than the regular variety!
Nah, you are just a plain ol’ ratbag weirdo. Just how I like ya π
Love this recipe Cara. Will have to use frozen cranberries as not sure I’ve ever seen fresh ones in Australia. The raspberries however will come from my garden. π
Thanks for sharing this delightful little dish with us. xx
I love the vibrant color π
Your happiness makes me insanely happy π

Looks delicious, raspberries are my very favorite berry! I make my cranberry sauce using pomegranate juice, may tweak it a bit to use the raspberry and maybe ginger too. Thanks for the great recipe and idea.
Missing you friend! And SO happy to hear you are happy π we need to catch up, and SOON! π XOXO
Hey Cara,
What a nice post. I hope life brings you all the happiness you deserve. This has inspired me to look at my life’s “defining” moments and review them for the good and the bad. To be thankful even for the bad because it made me the strong person I am today.
Thanks for the inspiration. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving
Yum!
I am so thrilled to know you have found happiness π xo
You very much deserve to be smiling and just feel all-around good with life.
Looking forward to all of your Thanksgiving recipes! I’m planning on doing a second Thanksgiving (did the Canadian one in October), so I can enjoy some of the awesome recipes that have been recently blogged on my favourite sites! This cranberry relish will definitely make an appearance at Thanksgiving 2.0 π
I really have found happiness! He is the greatest man ever π Thank you for the love…
I have chills right meow.
I know firsthand that pain, and also the wonderful bright shiny light at the other end of it. I am so incredibly happy for you, my dear.
I know I’d love this recipe – it is similar to mine (I also add fresh ginger, no apples). One of my favorite holiday treats!
Oooooooo I love the idea of fresh ginger in a cranberry sauce, Kris!
Thank you for being such a good friend to me in the midst of a crazy year (which, I know you haven’t had the easiest either)… So grateful for you!
That looks truly amazing! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in this part of the world, but I am having some girls over for a crafting day later this month and thought we should go with a Thanksgiving theme for the food (as it always looks so yummy!). I’ll be following you for tips! π
Okay, now I must know where do you live?
Sweden π
Looks really yummy. I’m wondering what it would be like with some toasted walnuts. And you, you just needed to let your star shine. No more hiding your light. You’ve always been spectacular.
Where is your damn cookbook Laurel? I will be waiting…
Thank you for always being my biggest cheerleader. You are so amazingly wonderful!
Oh my! Raw cranberries! It’s a brave new world!
Up until now, I never knew that cranberries came in any form other than can-shaped π
Hah! =)
Dangit. π
Yum. I loveee homemade cranberry sauce, but I never thought to twist it up by adding another fruit!
Homemade is always the best, isn’t it? And this cranberry sauce tastes AMAZING!
